While composite procedures have become increasingly popular in North America and Europe, amalgam remains a dependable option for many restorative practitioners world-wide. Hu-Friedy’s decades long experience and expertise in the development of amalgam instruments has resulted in an exceptionally mature suite of instruments, each designed to deliver maximum comfort for both the practitioner and the patient, as well as maximum productivity and ROI in instrument investment for the practice

Amalgam Carriers with SYNCOTE®

When it comes to amalgam instruments, one of the greatest challenges for practitioners has been the care and maintenance of carriers and pluggers. The tendency for instrument clogging is a natural byproduct of the amalgam procedure and special care should be taken in the cleaning and sterilization of the instruments (see below). Over the years we've also concentrated our instrument design efforts on adressing this particular issue. Innovative results include the Hu-Friedy CF® II line of amalgam carriers and pluggers. The SYNCOTE® coating that they use consistently outperform carbide-plunger instruments by preventing inner barrel surface abrasion and clogging.
