Thank You for Your Readership and Engagement

In 2017, our first blog post started off with the headline Don’t read the new Hu-Friedy Blog!

Now, that was a tongue-in-cheek approach to actually encouraging blog readership, but only if you were interested in value add information and content that would help you perform at your best.

And you know what? You confirmed what we knew all along: Dental professionals have innate desire to perform at their best and deliver the highest level of care. How do we know that? Well the thousands of visits to our Blog, coupled with the feedback we have received directly from you, tells us that we are on the right track.

So whether it was dental infection control, the importance of probing, or new and innovative approaches to attacking biofilm, you honored us with your attention and readership, so thank you. We also received some tremendous ideas directly from you in regards to future blog topics, which we are excited to implement in 2018.

We are committed to this format and to being even more frequent with value-add content.

Below are our three most popular blog posts of 2017:

  • Labor day road trips, periodontal probing, and the importance of knowing the way

You wouldn't set off on your Labor Day road trip without planning your drive or reviewing your route. Likewise, treating your patients without probing to assess their periodontal condition is akin to setting off without a destination or a map. There are no ifs, ands, or buts – periodontal probing is the standard of care.

In our periodontal probing post, we discussed probes, how to use them, and the importance of probing to show you the way as you scale and treat patients’ teeth.

Top takeaways: Probing is essential, but be consistent in your method and with the probes you use.

  • Getting a dirty job done, the easy way!

Instrument reprocessing is a task of vital importance and great responsibility in the dental practice. With the right tools at your disposal, you can be confident that your instruments are safe and sterile while you stay safer and cleaner, too.

In this post on instrument processing, we covered ways to ensure sterility, increase efficiency, and reduce risk.

Top takeaways: Invest in enzymatic cleaners, cassette-based instrument management systems, and cleaning monitors to see the biggest return on investment in terms of time and patient safety.

  • 401k Statements, IKEA, & Dental Infection Control: The importance of human content for a human audience

Dentistry doesn’t have topics that instill confusion quite like 401k statements or furniture assembly instructions. But there is one topic that comes close: Dental Infection Control. However, Hu-Friedy has a wealth of content, from webinars to a series of e-books, to help you understand Infection Control – in a human way.

In this resources on infection control post, we acknowledged how difficult the topic can be to understand and stay on top of, while also directing you to various resources we have produced on the subject. We also renewed our commitment to making this topic easy to understand.

Top takeaways: Infection control is an important and complex topic, but Hu-Friedy has plenty of free resources on the topic.

We’re excited for what 2018 has in store, and we can’t wait to bring you more content that is relevant, fun to read and helps you perform at your best.

And because this blog is for you, we want to hear from you. You’re on the front lines every day, dedicated to delivering the best care to your patients. What questions do you have? What topics matter most to you? What problems do you wish could be solved? As we focus on continuing to engage with the dental community in modern ways – including through this blog – we hope you’ll jump in and join us by reading along, sharing your thoughts, and asking us questions.
